    Dr. Melanie McGavern, DVM

    Practice Owner
    Dr. Melanie McGavern is a 1994 graduate of the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine.  Prior to earning her DVM degree, Dr. McGavern resided in Zephyrhills, and attended the University of South Florida, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in both Biology and Chemistry.  Dr. McGavern worked her first year and a half in a veterinary practice located in a rural community outside of Gainesville, where she practiced both large and small animal medicine.  She returned to Zephyrhills and began working at the Zephyrhills Veterinary Clinic for Dr. James Mason in 1996, while maintaining her own large animal practice.  In 2002, Dr. McGavern purchased the Zephyrhills Veterinary Clinic.  Dr. Mel’s interests include classical music, church choir, playing the piano, violin and tympani, taking art lessons, antiquing and tending to her Persian cat Polly, and her Great Pyrenees dog Connor.
